POSITION: Machinist - Little Rock
REPORTS TO: Machine Shop Manager
SALARY RANGE: Dependent upon experience


Job Summary: Fabricates and repairs parts and components by properly performing machining, necessary welding proceduers,a nd other associated support functions.



  • High School diploma or GED
  • Minimum requirements for appropriate classification level


    • Performs basic machining operations (drilling, tapping, milling, turning, boring, deburring, and cleaning).
    • Calculates linear dimensions needed for basic machining operations from drawings or blue prints.
    • Performs complex machining operations (indexing, gear cutting, spline cutting, double-lead thread cutting, cutting precision tapers, etc.).
    • Calculates linear, angular, and radial dimensions needed for basic and complex machining operations from drawings or blue prints.
    • Set and read precision measuring tools and apply to machining operations.
    • Fabricate or repair basic or complex machined parts from blueprints or drawings.
    • Performs final inspection on basic and complex machined parts.
    • Locate and use information from Machinists Hand Book for basic and complex machining operations.
    • Assists or performs machine work in the field when needed to support customers.
    • Maintains and cleans machines, tools, and work area.
    • Load and unload equipment, components, and parts.
    • Transport equipment, components, and parts around the facility.
    • Complete service documentation, parts acquisition and return, tool acquisition and return, service and technical information retrieval, and other activities to enable prompt invoicing and collection of service work performed.
    • Perform all tasks in a manner that ensures customer satisfaction and prompt invoicing and payment for work performed.
    • Take proper care of all company owned assets and keeps work area clean and orderly.
    • Assist in training lower level Machinists when needed.
    • Perform all of the above functions in a safe, efficient, and professional manner.
    • Other duties as required in support of Riggs customers and business operations.


  • Position is subject to extended work hours as business dictates.
  • Current and past performance in department assignments will be considered as a part of the selection process.
  • Transfers between departments, stores and/or companies are contingent upon realistic resolution of any vacancy caused by transfer from current department.
